Prayer Team
Our Mission
“We place a primary emphasis on prayer. We are always aware that Jesus warned the disciples, ‘apart from me you can do nothing.’ Therefore, prayer is central, not incidental, to what we do. Prayer is relying on God’s power to transform ourselves and our community. We will invest enormous energy in developing our personal prayer lives and our corporate prayer ministries.”

Prayer Team
In order to help keep us focused on prayer, Covenant has established a prayer team, led by Wilma Bogertman. You can reach her by e-mail: prayer@covcrc.org or by calling the church office: 973-427-1418

Focus Areas

Weekly Prayer meetings
We meet here at the church every Monday evening at 7:30PM to pray. Everyone is welcome to attend and/or submit prayer requests to our prayer chairperson.

Monthly Prayer Services
The 4th Sunday evening of every month is designated as a prayer worship service. This gives us the opportunity for corporate prayer and for our pastor to equip us for prayer.

Prayer Partners
Sponsored by the Prayer Team, various members of the congregation have committed to be a prayer partner. Prayer requests are provided to our prayer partners and they pray throughout the week for specific needs and for the church in general.

Equipping
Each spring, the prayer team sponsors a trip to the Brooklyn Tabernacle in NYC to experience their evening prayer service. This church and its prayer focus has been an inspiration to us and this annual experience is a good time of fellowship and equipping. Notification is put in our bulletin and all are welcome to attend. The prayer team also holds various equipping sessions on prayer throughout the year.

Prayer Walks
Before any major ministry events and at the beginning of new seasons, our prayer team sponsors “prayer walks” whereby we take time to enter each room that a particular ministry will take place in and pray that God’s blessing will be upon the events that take place there.

Communication of Prayer Needs
General prayer requests are published in our weekly bulletins and also on our e-mail ministry. We are very sensitive to your privacy and have prayer team partners who will pray for you and will keep your requests confidential should that be your desire.

Lighthouses of Prayer
Our prayer team and Elders are currently studying and experiencing the “Lighthouses of Prayer” focus whereby we commit to pray for our communities, neighbors, and specific people we work with. It is our hope to equip the congregation for this ministry sometime in 2002.

Prayer Partners
Prayer Partners are men or women of the church who pray on a regular basis (one day a month for at least a year) for our pastor and church. The goal is to ask for God’s hand to move in our pastor’s life and in the church’s ministry. Prayer requests are provided monthly. No meetings to attend except to come together 2-3 times a year for a Prayer Partner breakfast.

Prayer Partner Breakfast
To promote encouragement by meeting together. This time helps both prayer partners, others interested in prayer, and the pastor to share in fellowship, support, and prayer; which strengthens their bonds to each other and motivates them to continue in the ministry. This is held 2-3 times a year.

Channels and opportunities
We encourage everyone to actively participate in our prayer ministries. If you have a prayer need or request, please contact our pastor, our prayer chairperson, or your district Elder.
